ICOMS – 2013 is scheduled to take place in the safe and secure environment of Islamabad, the federal capital of Pakistan. Stretching from the Arabian Sea in the south to the tallest Himalayan Mountains in the north, snow-covered round the year, connecting China through Karakoram Highway lies Pakistan. It is a land of rich ancient civilizations and versatile climate conditions. The lofty mountains including K-2, the mountain of mountains, in the north offer great attraction and a stimulating challenge to mountaineers from around the world. The magnificent Islamabad is located at the junction of Soan Valley, Indus Valley and Gandhara civilizations at the foot of the Himalayan Mountains.
Islamabad is a modern city with vast avenues and excellent civic amenities. It is a city of universities and colleges. In combination with its twin city, Rawalpindi, the metropolis covers a fairly large area. At the outskirts of Islamabad is a township; Taxila, which boasts of an engineering university at a site where a functional university existed three thousand years ago, that attracted scholars from around the globe including scholars from China and Japan. A museum in Taxila with Buddhist heritage will certainly attract you. The artisans near the museum still carve beautiful Buddha statues and other artifacts that tourists love to take as souvenirs.
The Indus valley civilization offers so much more, particularly at Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro, for which the subcontinent is known distinctively in anthropology. Islamabad and its outskirts; with its beautiful lakes, peaceful mountainous tracking trails, exciting wildlife, sprawling gardens and parks, vast avenues, elegant buildings, shining shopping stores, fragrant flower markets, highly literate society and rich cultural places will mesmerize you and urge you to visit us again and again. Islamabad also has several art galleries & museums worth visiting that include Museum of Natural History, where antique history including Buddhism becomes alive. The hospitality and friendliness of the people is bound to touch you deeply and leave you with pleasant memories.
